Cookie Policy
This policy explains how ThriveDesk LLC uses cookies and similar technologies on thrivedesk.com, our help center and the ThriveDesk app. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers how we handle personal data more broadly.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser. It lets the site recognise your browser on a later visit or as you move between pages. We use the word "cookies" here to also cover similar tools, such as local storage, pixels and tags.
Cookies set by the site you're visiting are first-party cookies. Cookies set by another company's service on that site are third-party cookies. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser; persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them.
Types of cookies we use
We group our cookies into four categories. Only essential cookies are set without your consent. You choose whether to allow the others through the cookie banner when you first visit our website.
Essential cookies
These make the site and app work. They keep you signed in, remember your session, protect against fraud and automated abuse, and let you complete a purchase. You can't switch them off in our banner, because the service doesn't work without them.
Analytics and performance cookies
These tell us how people use our website and app: which pages they visit, how long they stay and where errors happen. We use this to fix problems and decide what to improve.
Functionality cookies
These remember choices you make, such as your language, and keep a live chat conversation with us open as you move between pages.
Advertising and measurement cookies
These measure how well our ads work, let us show our ads to people who have visited our website, and record when someone signs up through an affiliate's link so the affiliate gets credit.
Purposes, examples and duration
| Category | Typical purpose | Providers | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | Keep you signed in, protect forms and accounts from abuse, and complete checkout | ThriveDesk, Cloudflare, Paddle | Session to 1 year |
| Analytics and performance | Show which pages people use and where things break, so we can fix and improve them | Google Analytics, PostHog | Up to 2 years |
| Functionality | Remember choices such as your language and keep a live chat conversation open between pages | ThriveDesk | Session to 1 year |
| Advertising and measurement | Measure our ad campaigns, show our ads to past visitors, and credit affiliates for referrals | Google Ads, Meta Pixel, Partnero | Up to 2 years |
Exact names and lifetimes change as providers update their tools, so the durations above are typical rather than fixed.
Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by the providers in the table above. They process that data under their own privacy policies, and we don't control the cookies they set. We don't sell cookie data, and we only use it for the purposes described here.
How to control cookies
- Our banner. Choose which non-essential cookies to allow when you first visit. You can change your choice at any time by clearing cookies for thrivedesk.com, which brings the banner back.
- Your browser. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop you signing in.
- Provider tools. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on, and manage ad personalisation in your Google and Meta account settings.
- Do Not Track. We respect browser settings that ask sites not to collect data, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Cookies in our customers' widgets and help centers
When a business adds the ThriveDesk chat widget or help center to its own site, the widget uses cookies and local storage to keep the visitor's conversation going. That business decides how the widget is used on its site, and its own cookie policy applies there.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when we add or remove tools or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you have questions, email help@thrivedesk.com.
