# Keep conversations only as long as needed

We keep conversations for up to five years, and delete an account's data after it closes.

-   Conversation data stays for up to five years while your account is active, unless you delete it sooner.
-   When an account closes, we keep its data for 30 days so you can export it, then delete it.
-   Backups clear within 60 days.
