# Your AI agent remembers what each customer told you last time

Memory keeps the details that matter from every conversation, like the size a customer wears or the parcel that went missing in March. The next time they write, your AI agent and your team start from there.

Saves what matters After each conversation, Neo saves the details worth keeping, like a new address or a size. When something changes, the new memory replaces the old one.

You decide what it keeps Choose what Neo remembers and what it never saves, like card numbers. Your team can edit or forget any memory, and a customer can ask Neo to forget one.

Your team sees it too Every memory shows next to the conversation, so a teammate knows the customer before they reply. Teammates can add their own.

How it works

## How memory shapes a reply

[Training](https://www.thrivedesk.com/ai/training/) gives Neo, ThriveDesk’s AI agent, the facts about your store. [Skills](https://www.thrivedesk.com/ai/skills/) give it the steps, and [guidance](https://www.thrivedesk.com/ai/guidance/) sets how it writes. Memory is what it knows about the customer in front of it.

1. 01

    ### It saves what’s worth keeping

From each conversation, Neo keeps the details that will matter next time, like a size or a delivery address.

2. 02

    ### It checks memory before it replies

When the customer writes again, on any channel, Neo reads their memories with their orders from your store and uses the ones that fit.

3. 03

    ### It keeps memories current

When a customer says something new, like a new address, the new memory replaces the old one. Your team can edit or forget any memory.

FAQ

## Questions about memory

Anything else? [Talk to us](https://www.thrivedesk.com/contact/).

### What is memory in ThriveDesk?

Memory is what Neo, ThriveDesk’s AI agent, knows about each customer from past conversations: their preferences, past issues and notes from your team. Neo uses it in every channel it answers, and your team sees the same memories in the inbox.

### What does Neo remember?

Details that will matter next time, like a size, a delivery address, how a customer likes to be contacted, a past problem and how your team fixed it, or a product they want back in stock. You choose which kinds of details Neo keeps.

### Can I stop Neo from remembering some things?

Yes. In memory settings you choose which kinds of details Neo keeps, and you can list things it must never remember, like card numbers or health details.

### How is memory different from training?

Training gives Neo the facts about your store, like your return policy. Memory is about one customer: what they told you and what happened before. Neo uses both in the same reply.

### Does memory use my WooCommerce or Shopify data?

Yes. Neo reads the customer’s orders from your store along with their memories.

### Does memory work across chat and email?

Yes. A memory saved in a chat is there when the same customer writes by email, and the other way around.

### Can my team see and edit memories?

Yes. Every memory shows next to the conversation in the inbox. Teammates can add a memory, change one or forget one.

### Can a customer ask Neo to forget something?

Yes. When a customer asks, Neo removes that memory from every channel.

### What happens when something changes?

When a customer gives Neo new information, like a new address, the new memory replaces the old one.

### Can I turn memory off?

Yes. You can turn off any kind of memory in Settings, or turn memory off for the whole workspace.
